Rowena Plateau Loop

By Kelsey Samsel | Hiking

Lower Macleay Park is a great place to start your hike through Forest Park. Hidden in the heart of Northwest Portland, this park is hard to find unless you know where to look. This is the perfect destination if you want to get a quick hike in while visiting the city of Portland.

This trail is harder on the way up to Upper Macleay Park and easier on the way back down. Many people run this trail so you don’t really need hiking boots but I found them helpful on the way up.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • This trail is approximately 2.5 miles out and back
  • Very busy during summer weekends
  • Elevation Gain – 450 feet
  • Pets allowed on a leash
  • This is just one of several trails in Forest Park
