If you want to sit back and relax with a great glass of wine and an incredible view, Maryhill Winery is the place to go. We visited the Goldendale, Washington location in September and the weather was just warm enough to still sit outside.
The winery opened in 2001 and has over 75,000 visitors per year. Read more about the owners and their history here.
Located 100 miles east of Portland, the drive there takes you through the stunning Columbia River Gorge. You can take the freeway most of the way and there’s plenty of places to stop along the way if you want to experience more of The Gorge.
Upon arrival, walk towards the “Passion, Patience, Balance sign to get to the Tasting Room entrance. Choose the main tasting ($10) or premium tasting ($20) to get started. The cost of the main tasting goes towards a $20 bottle purchase and the premium goes towards a $40 purchase.
For Wine Club Members: Premium Tastings are free and Main Tastings are free for members and up to 4 guests.
Maryhill also has a Reserve Room for Premium Wine Club Members. Members can bring up to 2 guests. With a private patio rotating flights of limited production wines, The Reserve Room is a great place to spend your time. Check out their website for more info about the three levels of membership.
One thing that makes Maryhill special is it’s giant amphitheater. This past summer they had several musicians play including Chris Isaaks and Ben Harper. On concert days the Tasting Room closes at 3pm.
Maryhill also has plenty of smaller events and live music throughout the year. When we visited there was a live band playing on the outdoor patio. You can grab a glass (or bottle) of wine and sit outside to listen. They even had free grill-your-own hot dogs and marshmallows available!
We enjoyed a delicious cheese plate while listening to the live music. They were able to replace the regular crackers with gluten free crackers for me so I could fully enjoy it. The plate had an assortment of cheeses, meats, olives and almonds. Maryhill’s menu also has a couple pizzas and a few other food items.
Whether you are sitting inside or outside, you are going to get a great experience and an incredible view. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely go back. Let us know what your favorite wineries in The Gorge are!
