Waterfalls of Latourell Loop

waterfalls of latourell loop: latourell falls

The waterfalls of Latourell Loop can be found along a family-friendly 3-mile trail in the Columbia River Gorge. This stunning hike is popular (especially on the weekends) but totally worth the time. You will get to see three waterfalls along this trail and they are each so different.

Begin your hike at the Latourell Falls Trailhead off the I-84 exit #28 in the Gorge. Technically, you can start the trail from two different locations, the other option being Guy Talbot State Park. We started at the Latourell Falls Trailhead. The rtail entrance is to the left by the big sign. This means we saw the upper falls first and ended with the lower falls instead of the opposite.

Switchbacks & Wildflowers

The trail to the upper falls has several switchbacks and can feel difficult at times but there are several spots to stop if you need to take a break. If you hike this trail in the spring, you will see a lot of small wildflowers and several butterflies.

I personally love this hike because it’s not too difficult and you get to see several waterfalls along a beautiful trail.

If the weather is nice, we suggest packing a picnic lunch and eating it when you’ve finished hiking at one of the picnic tables at the end of the trail.

From here, drive to one of the other many waterfalls in the Gorge, including but not limited to Multnomah Falls and Starvation Falls.
