3 Recipes for Blackberry Season

By Kelsey Samsel | Eat + Drink

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas… blackberry season. I look forward to August all year because blackberry picking is one of my favorite things to do in the summer.

There’s something about the challenge of picking them that makes it even more fun. You have to work hard to get those delicious berries without getting pricked by a thorn, but it’s worth it.

So, find a local place to pick and get inspired by the recipes below.

1. Hand Pies from the Baking Fairy – These little pies are easy to make and perfect with vanilla ice cream. Pro tip: Add a little bit of goat cheese to each hand pie. You won’t regret it. If you are gluten free like me, check out this recipe. Just replace the apple filling with blackberry filling!

2. Cobbler from Schoolhouse – I love putting blackberries and peaches together in recipes. Schoolhouse’s cobbler is simple and delicious.  Plus, this is another recipe that works great with vanilla ice cream.

3. Muffins from My Mom Taught Me to Play with My Food – These Blackberry Sour Cream Muffins are great for breakfast or a snack. Spread a little butter on them and try not to eat all of them!
